Switching Your Business Phone to the Cloud
Moving to a cloud phone system is easier than most businesses expect — especially when we handle it. Here's how the switch works and how to prepare so the cutover is smooth and you keep your numbers.
Step-by-step
- 1
Review your current setup
List your phone numbers, how many users and lines you have, and the features you rely on (auto-attendant, voicemail, call groups). We use this to design your new system.
- 2
Choose RingCentral or AT&T Office@Hand
Both run on the same platform — AT&T Office@Hand is RingCentral delivered through AT&T. We'll help you pick the right plan and number of licenses for your team.
- 3
Plan number porting
To keep your existing numbers, we submit a port request to your current provider. Don't cancel your old service until porting is complete — cancelling early can make you lose your numbers.
- 4
Build the system before cutover
We set up users, call flows, auto-attendant, and voicemail ahead of time, and configure your phones and apps so everything is ready to go live.
- 5
Schedule the cutover
Porting completes on a scheduled date. We coordinate timing to minimize disruption — often outside business hours.
- 6
Train your team and go live
We show your team how to use their phones and apps, then activate the new system — and stay on hand for support afterward.
Helpful tips
- Keep your most recent phone bill handy — porting requires account details that match your current provider exactly.
- Internet quality affects call clarity — we can check your network and recommend improvements before go-live.
